Happy Independence Day!

It's a lazy kind of 4th around here. The husband is watching the Tour de France with his eyes closed (I know - France on the 4th, insert eye roll here) and the little one is recovering from the neighborhood parade. It was our first since moving into Brykerwoods and did not disappoint. We really do love the community we've joined here in the middle of Austin!

Everyone online is having a sale - so I'm fighting the urge for these Loeffler Randall sandals I've had my eye on forever. This blog post is working as a distraction.

Tuckernuck and Kiel James Patrick are both having 20% off sales with codes and are two of the very most 4th of July shops I can think of!

I've been reading this article from the New York Times, "It's Not Just Mike Pence..." Question: are you weary of being alone with the opposite sex, even for work? It's hard to be in this business if that's the case, which may be why I find this survey so surprising.

If you're looking for something cute to watch - just wait to hear Laura's nickname for former President George W. Bush's in the season premiere of Jay Leno's Garage. Watch on YouTube here.

Maybe you're attending a parade today and want tips on approaching staffers? 1st tip - probably don't do it at a parade, but here are some tips to put in your back pocket from CQ Roll Call.

CNN has a new podcast featuring 7 Badass Women of Washington, listen here.

Finally - Tiny Boxwoods Austin opens its lunch service on Thursday. I'll be there, professionally dining with a member of the opposite sex. Reinsert NYT article here.
